Alicia & Matt's Wedding Slideshow

As many of you may recall, Gerald and I flew to Kansas last June to photograph my sweet cousin Alicia's wedding. Well, in the crazy wedding season that followed, we never had a chance to create a slideshow for her and Matt. I love, love, love that they gave us so much time to play in the open fields and back country roads of Kansas! Congratulations Matt & Alicia, and enjoy your show!

Love you both!

Sara & Michael

Sara and Michael. They met through a mutual friend, who after significant badgering, convinced them to go on a blind date. Even then, it wasn't one of those "Oh my gosh, he/she is the ONE!" kind of dates. It was more of a "well that was fun, I'll call you(maybe)" kind of dates. You see, these two are VERY different. Sara likes to snowboard, skydive, and bust out an occasional invert on a wakeboard. Michael is just a really, really, nice guy with a computer science degree, a guitar, and a bit of a romantic side. Not really Sara's type... or so she thought.

It turns out that they only lived 3 blocks apart, so they saw each other here and there. A few dates, and a DTR later, they found something they hadn't really expected... each other.

For their engagement session, they took us around Kirkland and let us in on some of the places and moments that have meant so much to them on their journey. Their first date was at the Purple Cafe, who graciously invited us to come in and shoot photos an hour before opening! We had the entire restaurant to ourselves, and to really top it off, the staff served Michael and Sara the Pinot Noir that they had on their first date as well. I love it when businesses go above and beyond!

Did I mention that Michael has a bit of a romantic side? He proposed at sunset down in San Diego. They hiked out to a ridge overlooking the ocean, where a blanket covered in roses was set up next to his guitar. He played "I want to grow old with you,"(I still cry every time I ever time I see 'The Wedding Singer") and the rest is history...

Congratulations Sara and Michael!

Moonrise over the Cascades

This is my absolute favorite part of our little condo in Redmond, Wa--the view. Airika and I were enjoying dinner together at home when Airika noticed the tiniest sliver of the moon rising over the Cascade mountains. By the time I could get out the camera, lens, batteries, and a memory card ready, it was already halfway revealed!

I might have ended up with a cold dinner, but at least I have something to show for it.

Featured Wedding Fun

It's always exciting for us when one of our couple's weddings gets featured online or in print. Over the last couple of weeks, two more of our weddings have been featured, and we are so excited for them that we decided to share them with you!

A few weeks ago, Seattle Style (Seattle's premier wedding planning website) ran a mini Real Wedding feature of Gina & Greg's wedding. Gina & Greg were married at the gorgeous Golf Club at Newcastle and had so many amazing and thoughtful details woven into their day. As a part of the feature, Seattle Style asked us to write a little about working Gina & Greg, as well as provide some tips for brides trying to find the right photography style for their wedding. Head on over to their blog to see Gina & Greg's feature and to find practical resources for planning your wedding.

Today, Intimate Weddings, (an online resource for planning Intimate Weddings), featured Becky & Ryan's destination wedding on their website! We were thrilled when Becky & Ryan asked us to photograph their wedding on Catalina Island this past summer. Not only did we have a blast working with them, but their planning skills were impeccable. (Somehow they managed to get over 50 people on the same Carnival cruise ship and over 70 people to the Island to join in their celebration). Head on over to Intimate Wedding's blog to read all of the amazing stories and planning tips that Ryan shared as a part of their feature.

Thank you to Seattle Style, Intimate Weddings, and Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom magazine for sharing these beautiful weddings with future brides. And thank you to all of our clients for making our job the best in the world!
