Becky & Ryan's Engagement

Airika and I are really really excited about this engagement session! We've had some really cool locations picked out for months--one of which was a legal graffiti wall that we discovered in the SODO district of Seattle while scouting locations with some of our photographer friends. We were waiting for just the right couple to take out there, and Becky and Ryan were the perfect fit!

Afterwards, Becky and Ryan treated us to an incredible Sushi dinner at Nijo. They even shot a video of me trying the flying fish roe--too much wasabi for me!
After dinner, we went out for a few more night shots before calling it a night.
Thanks for a wonderful time guys! We can't wait for the cruise and your wedding on Catalina Island!!!

A wedding in beautiful sunny CA!

We just got home and have decided that we absolutely LOVE the "guaranteed sunshine" that comes with photographing weddings in Southern California. We can't wait to do some more work down there! Here's a sneak peek at a couple of our favorite images from Karen & Minh's wedding in Long Beach.

If you were a guest at Karen & Minh's wedding, click here to preregister for their online gallery and to receive a complimentary print credit. And, don't forget to check our blog again in a few weeks to view their wedding slideshow!

Tiffany & Kelly

A few weeks ago we had the awesome opportunity of photographing Tiffany & Kelly's intimate garden wedding. Because they were only having 8 guests (all family) and no wedding party, we had lots of time before and after their ceremony for fun photos of the two of them!

We started out at Golden Gardens Park. If you've ever been there on a nice day, you know exactly how popular this place is! We were a little concerned about this, so we stopped by earlier in the week to scope it out and make sure that we would be able to work around the crowd. Armed with a few ideas, we showed up on Saturday afternoon--it was definitely a gorgeous day, which meant that it was also one of the most crowded beaches we have ever seen! As you'll see below, we couldn't resist grabbing a quick photo of the beach as well. :)

Next we headed to ThaiKu, a fabulous little Thai restaurant in Ballard, where Kelly & Tiffany had their first date exactly three years before, on June 28, 2005. The staff at ThaiKu were so excited about our photo shoot that they set aside the bar for our private photo session. So, while the bartender sliced limes in preparation for the Happy Hour crowd, we snapped some photos!

We finished our day at Parsons Gardens on Queen Anne, where Tiffany & Kelly held their small ceremony. The lighting was incredible that day, and we took full advantage of it both in and around the garden.

This next image will defintiely be making its way to our website soon. We love it!

Tiffany and Kelly, thank you so much for inviting us to document your day for you. It was a fabulous day and we are so happy for you!

Camera (pronounced Kuh-mere-uh)

Poor thing, we've had her for 7 months and we still haven't completely settled on a name! At this point we are happy with the pronunciation, (Kuh-mere-uh)but we are still working on the spelling. Despite the cheeseball factor, I like Camera. Airika wants something else--ANYTHING else.

Either way, she's cute, and she loves getting on the computer as much as we do!

Staten Island

In case you didn't know, the Staten Island Ferry is free. Not much is free in New York, so it's worth a ride next time you are there. Kinda like a mini tour without an annoying tour guide to point out the Statue of Liberty.

While we were in the Terminal waiting to come back, we were watching the little fish in the giant aquariums. A guy walked by with a ladder, and suddenly, all the fish started going crazy. They clearly knew exactly what time it was...

I think it's a sign...

Yep, definitely a sign.

*note to self--when you get back from vacation, go get a new phone and a new computer!!!

Looking back

Airika and I have really enjoyed putting together these daily posts, so we're going to keep going with it! (we'll see how things go once we are back from vacation) Honestly, we really need to if we are ever going to get around to the long list of things we have "been meaning to blog about."

To that end, todays photo is from our trip to New York back in March... we were only ther a couple days, but what a trip! This is Airika and her cousin Clayton, who we stayed with for a few days in Midtown Manhatten.

Fauxhawk Faux pa

So a month or two ago, I was reading the label on my hair gel, (that's normal right?) and I decided to change up my hairstyle a bit and try the "fauxhawk." (That's a basically a fake mohawk just in case you didn't know...

Seriously, who doesn't want "long-lasting funky style"? So far it has worked out great for me, but there is a slightly embarrassing downside... the shadow. Kinda looks like a conehead. I will try not to get my head in the photos from now on!

Nice bustle...

This was one of those priceless in-between moments... At the very second that this picture was taken, Airika was under Alicia's dress trying to figure out how to bustle it!

Someone's in the yard!

One of the joys of photographing Alicia's wedding was that we got to spend some quality time with my grandparents at their lake house. On the wedding day, I was upstairs helping my gramma pick out her dress while Gerald was loading our gear into the car. Suddenly, I heard my grampa (who rarely speaks unless it's something really important) say in his slow draw, "someone's in the yard." I can just picture him pointing his finger out the back window toward the strangely familiar skinny young man who was "stealing" one of my gramma's red antique chairs right from under her! Watch out gramma--photographers are on the loose!!!

In my humble opinion, this is by far the best use this cute little chair has seen in years!

My sweet cousin

When Alicia & Matt decided to have us photograph their wedding, I was so excited! Alicia is one of my dearest cousins, and since our families both lived in the southeastern part of the US at the same time (way back in the 8th grade when Gerald and I met), we got to spend a lot of time together. I wish that I could say I simply went to Kansas to photograph her wedding, but being five years older than Alicia also makes me a little protective of her, so I kinda wanted to check this "Matt guy" out. Thankfully, Matt is an even GREATER guy than I could have imagined, and he loves Alicia A LOT, so there was no need for an intervention! ;)

This shot was truly the perfect end to a perfect wedding. Congratulations you two, and thank you for giving us the honor of photographing your wedding.

We love you!

Airika
