Elizabeth & Steven's Winter Wedding

Seattle was hit with several snowstorms this past December, and the days leading up to Elizabeth & Steven's wedding were full of anticipation! Determined that nothing was going to stop us from photographing their wedding, we put our four-wheel drive friends on-call and plotted out our worst-case scenario commute via bus/taxi/etc. to their wedding venue. To our relief, their day broke without a snowflake in the sky, (until their final departure at least!) and when we arrived at their church, we were met by a joy-filled bride & groom who were ready to tackle whatever their day may bring! Throughout their day, Elizabeth & Steven were positively glowing, and the beauty of the winter wonderland that surrounded them was the perfect setting for their day.

Elizabeth & Steven, your day was absolutely beautiful and we feel so blessed that we were able to share it with you. Thank you.

Sara & Ben met while working at Canlis Restaurant in Seattle, in 2004. The tsunami of Southeast Asia struck the day after Christmas that year. Two weeks later, Ben left on a trip with his father (an international director of a missions organization) to Sri Lanka to assess the damage and need. Ben dedicated the following two years of his life to living and working with a local relief and development team in Sri Lanka. During this time, and on his brief returns to the US, he would share his stories with Sara, and their shared passion to serve the people affected by this tragedy brought them even closer together. In the summer of 2006, Sara and her mother traveled to Sri Lanka for three months to serve alongside Ben. Living and working in a third-world country amid civil war and natural disaster, Ben and Sara found confirmation that they were to spend the rest of their lives together.

When we found out that Seattle Met was going to publish their wedding, we decided to wait until the magazine came out to show you their photos. It's been a long, arduous wait, but the time has finally come and we are so excited to share them with you!

Congratulations, Sara & Ben! We love you and are so happy for you!

We're alive!

...and we have pictures to prove it!

Ok, ok, it's been too long since our last post, and I apologize. Airika and I took a much needed break over the holidays, and we've been working feverishly ever since. :) In any case, we wanted to share a few photos from our time away, so enjoy!

Christmas tree hunting with Airika's family.
This should be interesting...
Yep, that looks good hun. I'm going to just stand over here behind the camera and watch.
I love the snow. It's like God's gift to photographers who want even fill light without having to hold a reflector!
On Christmas Day, we went to visit some family up in Lake Stevens, WA. I believe they had close to 2 feet of perfect snow, so we played in it. For hours. We love this shot that Airika's sister Hannah took of us.
Cousin Clayton and his sweet pet rabbits.
Airika's other sister, Gretchen, learning that it's pretty easy to hide behind a camera. ;)
Yep, we are building a sweet igloo!
This thing was freaking sweet. I'm a respectably tall person(6'2") and I could stand up inside with room to spare. It even came complete with an arched tunnel entryway. I must say, building a shelter out of water is quite rewarding. I was grinning for days after that. Good times...
Jacob, Airika's "little" brother on the other side of the igloo.
